Festival Background

Now in its eighth year and expanded to three days, Innings Festival returned to Tempe Beach Park & Arts Park along Tempe Town Lake. The unique setting combined spring-training vibes with breathtaking views of the Rio Salado and Papago Mountains, offering no-overlap sets across the stages and a relaxed atmosphere that let every performance breathe.

The Day 2 lineup brought together a rich cross-section of sounds:

  • The Backfires – transatlantic rock band based in New York City with fresh, driving energy
  • Catie Turner – Pennsylvania-born pop singer-songwriter known for honest, emotional storytelling
  • Deer Tick – indie-folk rockers from Providence, Rhode Island, active since 2004
  • Vertical Horizon – longtime alternative rock band from the Washington D.C. area behind major 2000s hits
  • Silversun Pickups – dreamy alternative rock quartet from Los Angeles
  • The Fray – piano-driven rock group from Denver, Colorado
  • Dashboard Confessional – emo pioneer from Florida with deeply personal lyrics
  • Cage The Elephant – high-energy alternative rockers from Bowling Green, Kentucky
  • Lord Huron – cinematic folk-rock project from Los Angeles
  • twenty one pilots – genre-blending duo from Columbus, Ohio, closing the night

Signature moments included Cage The Elephant’s explosive set keeping the crowd moving, Lord Huron’s atmospheric storytelling as the sun set, and twenty one pilots delivering a high-energy headline performance to close Day 2. The festival’s reputation for pairing nostalgia with discovery was on full display throughout the afternoon and evening.
