If you’re a fan of indie pop and rock, you’re probably already familiar with The 1975, the British band that has been making waves since their debut album in 2013. But if you haven’t heard of them yet, you’re in for a treat. The 1975 are one of the headliners of this year’s ACLfest, and they’re bringing their catchy tunes, quirky lyrics, and energetic live performance to the stage.

The 1975 have a distinctive sound that blends influences from 80s synth-pop, 90s R&B, and contemporary indie rock. Their songs are often about love, sex, drugs, and social issues, but they also have a playful and ironic side. They’re not afraid to experiment with different genres and styles, from the funky “Love Me” to the gospel-inspired “If I Believe You” to the acoustic “Be My Mistake”.

The band consists of four childhood friends: Matty Healy (lead vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), Ross MacDonald (bass), and George Daniel (drums). They met at school in Wilmslow, England, and started playing music together when they were teenagers. They chose the name The 1975 after finding it scribbled on a page of an old poetry book.

The 1975 have released four studio albums so far: The 1975 (2013), I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (2016), A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (2018), and Notes on a Conditional Form (2020). They have also released several EPs and singles, such as “Chocolate”, “The Sound”, “Somebody Else”, and “Frail State of Mind”. They have won several awards, including two Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and a NME Award.

The 1975 are known for their dynamic and engaging live shows, where they interact with the audience and create a festive atmosphere. They have performed at many festivals around the world, such as Coachella, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and Reading and Leeds. They have also sold out arenas and stadiums in various countries.

This year, The 1975 are coming to ACLfest to share their music with their fans and new listeners alike. They will be playing on both weekends of the festival, on October 6th and October 13th. If you don’t want to miss this opportunity to see them live, make sure you get your tickets soon. You won’t regret it!
