Rod Stewart Cancels Upcoming U.S. Shows Due to Health Concerns
June 7, 2025 – Legendary rock icon Rod Stewart has announced the cancellation of several U.S. tour dates as he battles ongoing health issues, leaving fans concerned yet hopeful for his upcoming appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. The 80-year-old singer, known for his raspy voice and electrifying performances, shared the news via social media, expressing deep regret to his loyal supporters.
Rod Stewart’s Health Struggles Prompt Cancellations
Rod Stewart recently canceled six U.S. concerts scheduled for June 2025, citing a persistent flu that has sidelined him from performing. The affected shows include four dates at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (June 7, 8, and 10) and one in Lake Tahoe, Nevada (June 14). Two additional California performances in Rancho Mirage (June 12) and Paso Robles (June 15) have been rescheduled for September 20 and 21, respectively. In an emotional Instagram post, Stewart wrote, “I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.”

This isn’t the first health setback for Stewart this year. In January, he battled both strep throat and COVID-19, forcing the cancellation of three shows. In August 2024, he postponed two concerts after testing positive for a summer strain of COVID-19 and canceled his 200th Las Vegas residency show due to strep throat. These recurring illnesses have raised concerns among fans, especially with his high-profile Glastonbury performance scheduled for June 29, 2025, where he’s set to reunite with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood.
A Storied Career of Hits and Resilience
Rod Stewart’s career spans over six decades, cementing him as one of rock’s most enduring figures. Born on January 10, 1945, in London, Stewart rose to fame in the 1960s with bands like The Jeff Beck Group and Faces before launching a solo career that defined classic rock. His gravelly voice and charismatic stage presence produced timeless hits like “Maggie May,” “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?,” “Young Turks,” and “Forever Young.” With over 250 million records sold worldwide, Stewart’s blend of rock, pop, and soul has earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a knighthood in 2016.
Despite his age, Stewart remains a dynamic performer, known for engaging audiences with energetic shows and a catalog of covers, including Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” and The Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited.” His Las Vegas residency, “The Encore Shows,” has drawn rave reviews, with fans praising his ability to captivate at 80.
Fans and Future Performances
The cancellations have disappointed fans, many of whom traveled to see Stewart’s Las Vegas residency. However, ticket holders are encouraged to retain their tickets, which will be honored for rescheduled dates. Stewart’s team has not provided updates on additional cancellations, but his June 7 and 8 Las Vegas shows were confirmed to proceed as planned before the latest announcement. Fans are particularly eager for his Glastonbury set, expected to draw 100,000 attendees, marking his first appearance at the festival since 2002.
Stewart has been open about his mortality, recently stating, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. I’m going to enjoy myself as much as I can.” His determination to perform, despite health challenges, underscores his passion for music and connection with fans.
