Silversun Pickups Turn Sunny Afternoon into Sonic Thrill at Innings Festival 2026
Under the bright Arizona sun at Tempe Beach Park, Silversun Pickups proved once again why their dreamy, guitar-driven alternative rock still cuts through the noise of today’s music scene. With Brian Aubert’s soaring vocals and swirling riffs at the center, the band’s 3:20 p.m. set on the Right Field Stage delivered a perfect mix of atmospheric layers and raw energy that felt both nostalgic and freshly alive.

Formed in 2000 in Los Angeles, California, Silversun Pickups have been active for more than 25 years. Fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Brian Aubert, the quartet broke through with their 2006 debut album Carnavas and 2009’s Swoon, earning a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Signature songs like “Lazy Eye,” “Panic Switch,” and “Well Thought Out Twinkles” became modern rock staples, while recent releases including Physical Thrills (2022) and the brand-new Tenterhooks (2026) show their sound continuing to evolve. “Panic Switch” caused a massive crowd reaction. The band has appeared at major festivals such as Coachella and has built a devoted following through consistent live performances. I caught them last year at the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival.

There’s a smooth magic in the way Silversun Pickups build their songs live, letting the crowd sink into every guitar line and soaring chorus. Their Innings Festival performance was a gentle reminder of how rewarding it is to catch a band that has stayed true to its sound while still surprising you in the best way—definitely one to watch for on future tours. Strongly recommended.
