Slightly Stoopid: The Reggae Road Trip
By 3:55 PM, the Home Plate Stage belonged to Slightly Stoopid, the SoCal crew who’ve been blending reggae, rock, and ska since the ‘90s. Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald lead this laid-back outfit, famous for “Closer to the Sun,” a stoner anthem that’s soundtracked countless beach bonfires.

The vibe shifted as Slightly Stoopid rolled in like a wave, kicking off with “Collie Man.” The crowd—now thick with tie-dye and flip-flops—bobbed to “2am” and “Sweet Honey.”

Then came the surprise: Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 strolled out for “Prophet,” his baritone rumbling through the park, before capping it with 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P.” For an hour, Tempe felt like a Cali coast party, the perfect chill before the night’s heavy hitters.
Partial Setlist:
- “Collie Man”
- “2am”
- “Sweet Honey”
- “Prophet” (with Chali 2na)
- “P.I.M.P.” (cover with Chali 2na)
