REO Speedwagon Rocks Ruoff Music Center
On July 10, 2024, REO Speedwagon delivered an unforgettable performance at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, IN. The band, known for their classic rock anthems, played a setlist that thrilled both longtime fans and new listeners alike.
REO Speedwagon, formed in 1967 in Champaign, Illinois, has been a staple in the rock music scene for decades. The band achieved massive success in the 1980s with their album “Hi Infidelity,” which sold over 10 million copies and included hits like “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On The Run”. Their music has also been featured in various films and TV shows, including “The Goonies” and “Stranger Things”. They’ve also been in a cameo of the hit series, “Ozark”.
The current lineup of REO Speedwagon includes Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Bruce Hall (bass, backing vocals), is out for illness, but it currently replaced by Matt Bissonette (formerly with Elton John for the last 12 years, Dave Amato (lead guitar, backing vocals), Bryan Hitt (drums), and Derek Hilland (keyboards), who is replacing Neil Doughty, who has recently retired. This lineup brought energy and passion to the stage, captivating the audience from start to finish.
The concert kicked off with “Don’t Let Him Go,” setting the tone for the night. The crowd erupted as the band transitioned into “Take It On The Run,” a song that still resonates with fans decades after its release. Other highlights included “Keep Pushin,” “Live Every Moment,” and “Tough Guys,” each song showcasing the band’s musical prowess and Cronin’s distinctive vocals.
Midway through the set, the band performed “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” a power ballad that had the entire audience singing along. The emotional connection between the band and the fans was palpable, creating a memorable concert experience. The set continued with classics like “Time for Me to Fly” and “Ridin’ the Storm Out,” before closing with the anthemic “Roll With The Changes.”
REO Speedwagon’s performance at the Ruoff Music Center was a testament to their enduring appeal and musical legacy. The band’s ability to connect with their audience and deliver a high-energy show is a testament to their status as rock legends.
