Innings Festival Day 1 Recap: Nostalgic Hits and Fresh Energy Light Up Tempe Beach Park
The opening day of Innings Festival on Friday, February 20, 2026, delivered a sun-drenched celebration of melodic indie, alternative rock, and heartfelt folk-pop at Tempe Beach Park. Blending longtime favorites with rising talents across two main stages, the event stood out for its seamless mix of music and baseball culture, creating an inviting atmosphere that felt both timeless and perfectly tuned to today’s festival scene.

The festival, I believe, covered the infield with artificial grass, which really helped with the dust in the last couple of years we’ve been covering this weekend. The promoters have spent a ton of money, and the workers and staff seem well trained and helpful.
Held at Tempe Beach Park & Arts Park along Tempe Town Lake in Arizona, Innings Festival is now in its eighth edition and expanded to three days for the first time in years. The baseball-themed event combines live performances with spring-training activities, offering fans breathtaking views of the Rio Salado and Papago Mountains while enjoying no-overlap sets on the Home Plate and Right Field stages.

The Day 1 lineup featured a thoughtfully curated mix of acts:
- Fat Evil Children – breezy Los Angeles indie rock
- Tyler Ballgame – melodic LA-based artist with classic-rock influences
- Congress The Band – energetic Charleston indie rock
- Marcy Playground – Minneapolis alternative rock veterans
- OK Go – inventive Chicago alternative rock known for creative visuals
- Grouplove – anthemic Los Angeles indie rock with dual vocals
- Peach Pit – warm Vancouver melodic indie pop
- Goo Goo Dolls – Buffalo melodic rock legends behind diamond-certified hits
- Myles Smith – rising Luton, England folk-pop storyteller
- Mumford & Sons – London folk-rock headliners (current trio lineup)
Signature moments included Mumford & Sons performing tracks from their new album Prizefighter on its release day, Goo Goo Dolls sparking massive sing-alongs with classics, and strong sets from Grouplove and Peach Pit that kept energy high throughout the afternoon. The festival has built a reputation for memorable appearances that blend nostalgia with discovery.

Wrap
Day 1 proved once again why Innings Festival is becoming a favorite spring tradition for music fans in the Southwest. The combination of thoughtful songcraft, crowd-pleasing anthems, and the unique baseball-festival setting created a relaxed yet memorable experience under the Arizona sky—one that left attendees already looking forward to the rest of the weekend.
