Incubus: The Alt-Rock Resurgence

The clock struck 6:05 PM, and Incubus claimed Home Plate, their California cool washing over Tempe. Since the ‘90s, Brandon Boyd’s brooding vocals and Mike Einziger’s riffs have defined alt-rock, with Make Yourself (1999) as their crown jewel.

They’re famous for “Drive,” a mellow masterpiece that’s aged like fine wine.

The 75-minute set was a slow burn that ignited. “Nice to Know You” kicked things off, followed by the funky “Pardon Me.” “Drive” hushed the crowd into a reverent singalong, while “Wish You Were Here” soared as the stars peeked out. Incubus was a tidal wave of sound, bridging the day’s chaos into night’s intensity.
