Common People Bring Fresh Alternative Anthems to Innings Festival Day 3

By on March 12, 2026

Under the noontime Arizona sun at Tempe Beach Park, Common People turned their 12:50 p.m. slot on the Home Plate Stage into a vibrant introduction to Day 3 of Innings Festival 2026. With Nicky’s breathy vocals and the band’s tight interplay of hummable guitar solos and irresistible hooks, their set delivered sticky alternative anthems that blend garage-rock energy, D.I.Y. indie spirit, and a touch of psychedelia — the kind of era-agnostic rock that feels instantly familiar yet refreshingly new in today’s music scene.

Common People formed in Los Angeles when five musicians from different parts of the country met through shared friend groups and began jamming in a Southern California basement. The band has been active for roughly three years, honing their sound on the local circuit before breaking out in 2025 with a series of captivating singles. Signature tracks include their official debut “Thank You,” with its dusty groove, gritty guitar sound, and catchy chorus.

Early demos caught the ear of GRAMMY® Award-winning Cage the Elephant co-founder Brad Shultz, leading to a signing with his Parallel Vision label in partnership with Big Loud Rock. The group has already shared stages with major acts and earned festival spots, including their current run that features Innings Festival. There have been no substantial lineup changes in the past few years — the quintet remains the same close-knit group that started together.
