Bowling for Soup Brings Joy to Innings Festival 2026
Under the bright Arizona sun at Tempe Beach Park, Bowling for Soup turned their 2:30 p.m. set on Day 3 of Innings Festival 2026 into a feel-good pop-punk party. With Jaret Reddick’s charismatic vocals and the band’s signature blend of witty lyrics, catchy hooks, and nonstop energy, the performance stood out in today’s music scene for its unapologetic fun and ability to turn strangers into a singing crowd in minutes. I loved it from the start. (puzzle: Find the tour photographer)

Formed in 1994 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Bowling for Soup has been active for more than 30 years, later basing itself in Denton. Frontman Jaret Reddick leads the group with his playful songwriting and stage presence. The band broke through in the early 2000s with major-label releases and built a loyal following through high-energy live shows. Signature songs include “Girl All the Bad Guys Want,” “1985,” “Almost,” “Punk Rock 101,” and “High School Never Ends,” along with the beloved Phineas and Ferb theme “Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day.”

“Girl All the Bad Guys Want” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2003, and the band has appeared at festivals worldwide while also recording theme songs for shows like Jimmy Neutron. Fans may not yet know about a substantial lineup change: longtime guitarist Chris Burney retired in early 2025 due to health reasons, making Jaret the sole remaining original member, though the band continues as a strong three-piece.

I loved them! There’s comfort in seeing a band that has stayed true to its roots for three decades while still sounding completely alive onstage. Their Innings Festival set mixed crowd favorites with playful covers and just the right amount of banter, creating a relaxed, yet hot and sunny afternoon that felt like reconnecting with old friends. If their tour or festival dates line up with your schedule, it’s the sort of show that reminds you why pop-punk still has the power to bring people together and leave everyone smiling.
