Goo Goo Dolls Bring Timeless Melodic Rock to Innings Festival Day 1
After grabbing a quick slice of pizza, I headed off to the Main stage to see a band I’d been looking forward to seeing. Goo Goo Dolls offered a heartfelt evening of melodic alternative rock and enduring anthems at the Innings Festival on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Starting at 6:35 p.m. on the Home Plate Stage at Tempe Beach Park, the Buffalo band stood out with their signature blend of introspective lyrics and catchy hooks, proving why their music continues to connect across generations in today’s diverse music landscape.

Band Background
Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Goo Goo Dolls formed in 1986 and have been active for nearly four decades. The group rose to prominence in the 1990s with emotionally resonant songwriting that blended alternative rock and pop sensibilities. “Iris” put them on the map.

The band members are:
- John Rzeznik – lead vocals and guitar
- Robby Takac – bass and backing vocals
- Brad Fernquist – guitar, mandolin and backing vocals
- Craig Macintyre – drums and percussion
- Jim McGorman – keyboards, guitar and backing vocals
Signature songs include “Iris,” “Slide,” “Name,” “Black Balloon,” and “Here Is Gone.” The band has received multiple Grammy nominations, with “Iris” achieving diamond certification after its prominent placement on the City of Angels soundtrack. Their Innings Festival performance added another memorable festival appearance to their long history.
