Fall Out Boy: The Grand Slam Finale

By on March 6, 2025

Finally, at 8:45 PM, Fall Out Boy stormed the Home Plate Stage, the night’s headliners ready to close Day 1 with a bang. From Chicago’s pop-punk scene, Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley have evolved from emo poster boys to arena rockers since From Under the Cork Tree (2005). They’re famous for “Sugar, We’re Goin Down,” a track that still defines a generation.

The 105-minute set was a spectacle—pyro flaring as “The Phoenix” roared to life. “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” had the crowd leaping, while “Uma Thurman” unleashed a dance-punk frenzy. “Thnks fr th Mmrs” and “Centuries” built to a crescendo, and “Sweet Caroline” (a baseball nod) capped it with a communal singalong. Fall Out Boy were the grand slam, leaving Tempe buzzing under a starlit sky.
