Katrina Parker has experienced her share of reality. Originally from North Carolina, Parker tasted a level of fame most never achieve when she reached the semi-finals on Season 2 of The Voice.

Moving to LA, her star rose but her satisfaction with her career choices did not. After the glitz and red carpets, Parker chose to return to a bit of normalcy and try and get back to the reason she began singing in the first place; her love of music.

Parker is back with a new album that blends the influences of her childhood roots in the rural South with the effects of Los Angeles city life. The result is what Parker describes as “Sparkling Desert Pop/Folk with a lot of warmth, a little bit of magic, and a touch of banjo.” Fair enough.

The first single is the title song off her soon-to-be-released album Stars. Achingly poignant, Parker shows the reason why her singing was celebrated by Rolling Stone and LA Weekly. Take a listen below.

The album is set to release September 6th and there will be two more singles out before then. A cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” and a more pop styled tune called “Follow Me.”
