ACL Fest: Upgraded for 2016
By Aaron Tyler on September 15, 2016
(Austin, TX — September 15, 2016) ACL Fest will enter its 15th year as a world-class festival by offering new experiences and upgraded amenities throughout Zilker Park. Family entrances, more shade, better restroom facilities, added perks to the Platinum Ticket and a new Austin Kiddie Limits experience are just some of the changes fans can expect to see this year.
ACL Festival is opening up the park so fans have more space, and making sure there’splenty of shade to go around. The Rock Island Stage has been relocated for better crowd flow, and new spaces have been opened for fans to relax at Rock Island and in the southeast end of Zilker Park. There fans will find even more shade and easy access to Austin Kiddie Limits, along with new amenities including the Miller Lite Game Hall and Wine Down, ACL’s brand new wine bar. Grabbing a bite at ACL Eats and a cold one at the expandedBarton Springs Beer Hall will be more comfortable with added shade and picnic tables to take a load off between performances.
Austin Kiddie Limits presented by Lifeway has a new home under the lush, shaded southeast end of Zilker Park. ACL Fest’s youngest fans and their parents can enter through the new Family Friendly Entrance located off Barton Springs Road, in between the Barton Springs Entrance and Robert E. Lee Road, in addition to stroller-friendly family lanes at both main gates. When families register for Tag-a-Kid this year at the Family Friendly Entrance or the Info Tent just inside the main gates, each child will receive an RFID-enabled wristband. In the event that a child is separated from their parent, we have a reliable and fast way to reunite them. www.aclfestival.com/kids
A welcome new addition in 2016: improved restroom facilities. This year, every restroom in the park will be upgraded to environmentally friendly, flushable toilets.
ACL Fest has made it even easier to cool off and stay healthy. Fans will find more CamelBak Hydration Stations providing free water as well as more misting stationsthroughout the park. In addition, The Bodegas will offer a one-stop shop experience for snacks, fresh fruit, trail mix and festival survival needs including sunscreen, ponchos, socks, eye drops, allergy relief and more.
The ACL Festival Store has expanded to an indoor, full retail shopping experience, where fans can take a break from the music, enjoy the air conditioning and browse the racks of 15th Anniversary ACL Fest merch.
New amenities have also been added to ACL Festival’s ultimate experience, the Platinum Ticket. The luxury, air-conditioned Platinum Lounge has relocated to a tree-filled oasis in the southeast end of Zilker Park, with direct access to the VIP Grove. Platinum ticketholders can skip the line at the main gates and enter through the dedicated Platinum Entrance on Barton Springs Road. Platinum fans will enjoy lunch and dinner prepared daily by celebrity chefs and special wine tastings from the Austin Hope Wine Collection, all curated by the Austin Food + Wine Festival.
