Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz Release Single “Careful Now My Son”
As we leave behind a year full of turbulence and anxiety, it’s been interesting to follow the ways musicians have been dealing with the chaos of the political world and the global pandemic. California artists Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz have decided to face the issues straight on. In early 2021, the duo plan to release a musical collection which they call “music in the time of coronavirus.” It will be released in three sections and the first issue is a recently released single titled “Careful Now My Son.”
The Americana influenced tune offers a natural bridge from the hell that was 2020. It’s full of foreboding and uneasiness both in lyric and melody. Throw in Anders pleading vocal and some spot-on perfect mandolin and pedal steel from Producer Mike Butler and you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
The second section of their conoronavirus collection will be an 8-song LP titled As Sirens Go By, which will be soon followed by a 5-song EP called Stuck Inside. The EP will feature songs with more of a rock edge.
The entire music collection was written and recorded remotely during the pandemic while Anders and O’Bitz, as well as all other musicians on the recording sheltered in place. As such, most of the songs in the collection reflect feelings of anxiety and isolation, while also addressing the authoritarian and cultish politics of the past four years.
